WELCOME to the 2022-2023 school year. Keep Calm and Teach On!
This website serves a consortium of school districts that value collaboration as an effective way to help all children succeed in mathematics. While it all started in Wisconsin, this website now supports schools around the world using Everyday Mathematics (CEMSE-UCSMP/McGraw-Hill Education). This project started in 2005 with the need to align Everday Mathematics, which was written for use in 50 states, to Wisconsin's Model Academic Standards. It then grew to cooperatively implement other educational initiatives like Assessment for Learning/Standards-Based Grading, Professional Learning Communities, Response to Intervention, the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), and Educator Effectiveness.
Representing 10 years of continual development with teacher-inspired ideas and shared resources, these tabs hold assessment and parent reporting resources. These tools help to maximize teachers' instruction with Everyday Mathematics by linking their daily practice to these educational initiatives and linking these initiatives together to create a ladder to increase student achievement in mathematics.
The VIEW SAMPLES tab will showcase one of the most popular resources: custom Individual Profiles of Progress for each unit. Every "I can" learning target features a visual example of the mathematics to make the learning targets and progress reports child and parent-friendly.
The learning targets, which are aligned to the CCSS-M, can be assessed using Common Assessments that were designed with children in mind. There are also Parallel Assessments (for pre-tests, unit reviews, or reassessment checks), and formative assessment ideas for each unit. Matching checklists help efficiently gather student data during the unit to easily identify children who need differentiation. And electronic spreadsheets can provide summative data for RTI, PLC, and Educator Effectiveness purposes.
A refined Scope and Sequence helps teachers focus on the Common Core and CCSS-aligned report cards will reflect the concepts assessed in each quarter or trimester. And when we talk about the CCSS, we must not forget the most important aspect: the Standards for Mathematical Practice. Creative posters, that reference characters in picture books, help teachers explain these characteristics of a strong math student to even our youngest learners.
Best of all, these resources seamlessly fit together and are led by an educator who is passionate about Everyday Mathematics for a 1,000,001 reasons. The biggest reason being that Everyday Math has a proven history in Wisconsin and across the globe for boosting students' mathematical abilities, understanding, confidence, and enthusiasm.
